Every four years, the Commission conducts an interim review and update of VISION 2050, Southeastern Wisconsin’s long-range land use and transportation plan. This update is intended to keep the plan current and address federal requirements. VISION 2050 was originally adopted in 2016 and an interim review and update was completed in 2020. In fall 2023, the Commission initiated the 2024 Review and Update, beginning with a review of progress in implementing VISION 2050 recommendations, transportation system performance, year 2050 forecasts underlying the plan, and changes in recent years that impact the plan.

In early 2024, we obtained input on proposed updates to plan recommendations, information related to funding for the recommended transportation system, how the plan benefits and impacts low-income populations, people of color, and people with disabilities, and federal performance targets set for the Region’s transportation system. After reviewing and addressing comments we received, we finalized the 2024 Update with approval from the Regional Land Use and Transportation Planning Committees and the Commission adopted the plan update in June 2024.
